Are there any cancer causing substances in make up products especially lipstick?

There are no known cancer causing substances in make up products. There is, however, an email rumor or urban legend that there is . . but it is not based in factual evidence.

Urban Legend: Lead in lipstick causes cancer is false

There is an effort by some political groups to establish a link between the chemicals used to produce cosmetics and cancer . . but again, no study has confirmed that the small traces of cosmetics such as lipstick has ever 'caused cancer' in human beings. The evidence does not exist. I should point out that one of the leading cosmetic companies in the world is Estee Lauder, whose founder had breast cancer. She established the highly successful pink ribbon campaign against breast cancer. The attack on the cosmetic industry seems politically motivated and an attempt to discredit Estee Lauder and companies involvment in breast cancer research.
