Can you catch anything from trying on lipstick and other make-up in the stores where they leave testers out?

You bet your bippy. You can get herpes, oral thrush, and any number of respiratory ailments from them. Bypass putting those items on your face, opt for the back of the hand if you just want to check the shade. If you really want to see what it looks like on you- most of the reputable makeup counters have single sample blister packs. Of course those are for the more expensive lines of makeup, but if you really must put it on your face, that is the only way to go.Can you catch anything from trying on lipstick and other make-up in the stores where they leave testers out?
it is highly unlikely that you will catch something but there is always a risk. for instance if the person before you had a cold or flu and left traces of saliva on the lipstick you could catch it. if someone had bleeding lips they may leave traces of blood on the lipstick and if you used it immediately after you could get infected with something nasty from them.

probably wouldn't happen but is one of the reasons i would never use tester makeup. Can you catch anything from trying on lipstick and other make-up in the stores where they leave testers out?
don't do it! any kind of bacteria or germs from the person before you is now yours. Especially when it comes to things like eye make up. Think how many times a day you touch things with your hands and then rub your eye. Using the make up setting out just spreads things more.
You shouldn't ever ';try it on.'; Always test it on the back of your hand never on your lips or face. Yes, you can catch something so stay safe. It would only be safe if a small sealed sample was given for you to take and you could use it only for you.
Yes and no.

Yes, if you apply the makeup directly from the tester to your face/lips/eyelids, etc.

No, if you apply the makeup, whatever it is, to the back of your hand or the inside of your wrist.
Yes. Do not use them on the mouth for sure. Try the color on the back of your hand. Then go and wash it off with soap and warm water.
I know you can get pink eye from the eye makeup. If you try on a lipstick wipe it with tissue first.
I used to work at Merle Norman's. You should put it on the top of your hand (like between the thumb and index finger toward your wrist)
tester lipstick should not be put on your lips, you should rub a little on you palm right behind your thumb.
dont put it on your face..test on your inner arm or side of your hand.
